This article is not directly about gold or
economic matters, but in a very real and immediate sense
its subject affects all gold/free market advocates and their
readers more than any other subject. For, gold is the
ultimate political metal as Bill Buckler of The Privateer
so aptly states. Because of that, writing about gold is
probably the most political of all types of speech.
I am talking about the Federal Election Commissions
attempts to stifle free speech on the Internet.
There may not be much that Americans living
today can agree upon. America has become an almost fatally
wounded and fractured society, where group is pitted against
group in one seemingly mortal battle after another, about
issues as varied as race baiting, religious vs. atheist,
male vs. female, rich vs. poor, haves vs. have-nots, left
vs. right, etc., etc., ad nauseam.
But there is one thing that all of us, all
of the above groups and often bitterly warring factions,
agree upon with total unison and without reservation, and
that is our right to think - and the right to say and write
whatever we think.
That right cannot, must not - ever - be allowed
to be curtailed.
Not by Congress, not by the president, not
by judges, and most certainly not by some unelected goof-ball
administrators of a faceless government commission - a commission
the constitutionality of which is more than just questionable,
a commission whose members think it is their job to tell
you and me what we can say concerning political issues,
when we can say it - and where we can say it.
To save space and to make sure that no vital
issues and facts get lost in vain attempts to summarize
the problem, I am referring all interested readers to the
web site of DownsizeDC.org.
Lawyers in their self-importance may have
succeeded over the years, decades, and centuries to obfuscate
pretty much everything connected to the interpretation of
our Constitution. And, maybe, too many of us have acquiesced
to this ongoing effort, in too many instances, for far too
long.
But there is one thing, one single overarching
principle, one most foundational of all fundamental rights,
that the founders tried to secure to us by writing the Constitution.
That right is so utterly beyond dispute, so immediate in
its clarity, so sacred to all Americans, that no dissension
on it exists - even in todays insane world.
And that one thing is the right to speak
your mind.
Leftists value it. Conservatives value it.
Rich value it. Poor value it. The religious and the atheist
alike value it. There is only one class of people who do
not value it, and that is the class of those who covet the
power to control others lives.
They are found on both sides of the political
aisles.
When it comes down to it, there is only one
true battle raging in American history, past present, and
future, and that is the battle between those who want to
restrict peoples rights on the one hand - and the
People themselves on the other.
It is time to remind those of the former group
that they are not only numerically in a minority, but that
they are also totally, utterly, and eternally on the
wrong side of the fence.
It s time to remind them that they, whoever
they are, enjoy their little rule-making powers only at
the good graces of We the People. And We the People
are now finally fed up.
Their attempts to fracture us into ever-warring
interest and splinter groups may have succeeded to some
extent in the past, but they have now finally found that
one, incomparably focal, vital to the core, hot-button issue
that has the power to turn all of the normally splintered
factions against them in a unanimity that they cannot fathom.
They have finally found that one major hot-button
and they have 'stepped in it' all the way.
What is currently going on in the blog-spots
on the internet, what is now in the early stages of a nuclear
fission-like process of building to a mind-deafening crescendo,
is the battle cry of an entire nation, a nation that happens
to be the most powerful nation on earth for a reason.
And that 'reason' is not the political
and administrator class.
That reason is the American People - of all
persuasions - and our undying love of freedom.
And our roaring battle-cry to those who would
steal our freedom is:
WEVE HAD IT WITH YOU !!!
If you like your little power position - however
you may have obtained it - stop now.
Or else, you will be removed.
This message goes out to politicians, administrators,
executives, and judges alike - and to those who finance
them.
Do not deceive yourselves into believing that
you can pull the wool over our eyes about our right of free
speech.
Do not think you can tell us that the words
Congress shall make no law ... mean anything
other than what they say.
The first Article of the Bill of Rights begins
that way - in case you have forgotten. It states: Congress
shall make no law respecting an establishment of religion,
or prohibiting the free exercise thereof, or abridging the
right of free speech ...
Notice to the Supreme Court: McCain-Feingold
is a law of Congress abridging the right of free speech.
There are no "concerns" that outweigh this right,
Justice OConnor.
This is an appropriate time to re-introduce
the concept of nullification to the American people.
Nullification is the right of the People,
collectively, to simply nullify any law (or judicial ruling)
which is in violation of the Constitution.
The founders strongly believed in it.
Our entire Constitution is founded on it.
We have not forgotten it.
We do not need your opinion, Mrs. OConnor
(and those esteemed justices who voted with her in the McCain-Feingold
case), to tell us what is constitutional. We
can (still?) read - despite decades of government re-education.
A law that restricts the right of ANYONE,
at any time, at any place or in any venue, to voice their
true and considered opinion, especially about political
matters, is an abridgement of the right of free speech!
A government commission whose job it is -
whether under the cover of an unconstitutional judicial
fiat or without it - to tell any American or even any alien
who is here legally what we can say about political matters
- or any other matter - and when, and where we can say it
is abridging the right of free speech!
We acknowledge that the right of free speech
does not extend to the intentional incitement of violence
or physical harm against others - but thats where
the restrictions end.
Yes, Americans are law-abiding. But we abide
by a higher law than those of Congress - or the mere opinions
of a group of judges, or the political goals of any president.
We abide by the law that created Congress,
the presidency, and the judiciary, the same law that you
must abide by (and to which you have sworn allegiance, remember?)
but which you have now broken.
There is an overseer of legislative and judicial
power, and that overseer is us, We the People, who created
your positions of power. We the People, who gave
you the power you are now illegally attempting to wield
against us.
We hope you can see the futility of this.
If you cannot, you are asking for total
revolt.
What can you and the likes of you do - if
all of the People ignore your unconstitutional, un-American
laws, pronouncements and regulations?
Remember who you are - and remember who made
you what you are.
