Kitco News Gold, Silver Coverage At PDAC 2018
The Prospectors & Developers Association of Canada (PDAC) is best known for its annual convention, bringing together prospectors, developers, geoscientists, consultants, and mining executives, among others. Considered the mammoth of all mining conferences, this annual event attracts more than 24,000 attendees from more than 130 countries.
The four-day annual convention held yearly in Toronto, has grown in size, stature and influence since it began in 1932 -- today it is the event of choice for the world's mineral industry.
So join us starting Sunday, March 4, 2018 as we kick-off our coverage, catch all our content on kitco.com and follow us live on social media @KitcoNewsNOW.
This is Kitco News' seventh year covering the PDAC and I can definitely say we have come a LONG way from our early days! This conference holds a special place in my heart since it was the first conference I ever covered for Kitco News – and what a way to start our journey.
I remember it like it was yesterday, our media director, John Dourekas, basically told me to, "get a mic, get a videographer and go cover it." Little did I know I would be stepping foot onto the world's largest mining conference with thousands of attendees. Fast forward to today and I am proud to say we now have a huge media presence at the conference; as a full-fledged media partner of the PDAC, with a dedicated filming area – if you happen to spot us please come over and say hello!
Words of advice are stay hydrated, stay focused and don't forget your Dr.Scholl's foot relief – I can guarantee you will hit 10,000 steps a day! Happy conference folks! - Daniela Cambone, Editor-in-Chief
I have been covering the precious metals market for five years now and PDAC is by far always the event that sets the tone for the rest of the year. It's more than just who is bullish or bearish; at last year's PDAC, a company was giving away Virtual Reality headsets, a critical signal that the sector is embracing innovation and technology, a major issue that has been raised throughout the past year. I can't wait to find out the tone at this year's conference. Being a regular now at PDAC, I recommend including in your survival gear, lip balm, Tic Tacs and comfortable shoes. On another personal note, as a new dad, the PDAC bags make fantastic diaper bags for the rest of the year - my daughter is already looking forward to her new 2018 gear.
With a conference like PDAC it is vital to stay on top of everything, which is why we are bringing you LIVE coverage of all the events on social media. This will be my first time at PDAC and I am really looking forward to putting faces to all the familiar names. My working essentials are two iPhones and a MacBook. You’ll recognize me as the one typing away in the front row, or the one hectically tweeting during presentations, or the one frantically sprinting down the hallway to get to the next session. I’ll be there so you don’t miss any precious metals-related updates. Take advantage and follow us on Twitter @KitcoNewsNOW. And feel free to tag us on Twitter (@KitcoNewsNOW) or Facebook (@KitcoNews) to be featured in our posts. Really excited to get things started!
When my friends ask me - a West coast guy by origin - for words associated with Toronto, three things immediately pop into my head: CN Tower, Drake, and Bay Street. Now, I can proudly add the world's leading metals and mineral exploration conference to the list. This will be my first coverage of PDAC, and also my first foray into the world of mega conferences hosting more than 24,000 attendees. As Kitco News' producer, it will be my privilege to assist our news team in sifting through the hustle and bustle to bring you only the most market-impacting news; from the hottest innovations in the mining space, to video interviews with industry experts on their top investment strategies. Be sure to tune in to our live coverage to stay up to speed. Also if you spot @Drake give us a shout @KitcoNewsNOW, I'd love to interview him – he did buy a pair of solid-gold sneakers worth $2 million after all, so he must be a gold bug.
Don't miss our coverage here and be sure to send us some questions you would like Daniela Cambone to ask industry experts.
