(Kitco News)-- Holdings in global gold and silver exchange-traded products on Wednesday extended the record highs hit the day before, Barclays Capital reports. Gold holdings in the ETPs tracked by Barclays rose by 1.7 metric tons to 2,107.7. Silver ETP holdings grew by 53 tons to 13,110. “Investor appetite has kicked off September on a positive note, and coupled with the seasonally strong period in gold demand, we would expect gold prices to test new highs as the year unfolds,” Barclays says.
