Blackrock Silver starts with talent
(Kitco News) - Well-known mining recruiter, Andrew Pollard, took his industry connections and human resource skills to help build Blackrock Silver, an exploration company focused on Nevada (TSXV:BRC, OTC:BKRRF, FSE:AHZ0).
Pollard spoke to Kitco on Tuesday.
Before taking the helm at Blackrock in 2019 as president and CEO, Pollard ran the Mining Recruitment Group.
"My number one job was just making sure that the right people were behind the right projects. My entire business motto was: the management matters," said Pollard.
The executive director at Blackrock is Bill Howald. He was general manager of exploration for Placer Dome until the company was acquired by Barrick Gold for $9.2 billion. Howald has done this before. He's founded several companies and raised approximately $300 million in project financing.
The team at Blackrock Silver is focused on Tonopah West project in Nevada, a deeply historical part of the state.
"Nevada to this day is known as the silver state. And it's known as the silver state on the back of the Comstock Lode discovery and on the back of the Tonopah silver district of which we now control half of," said Pollard.
Tonopah is located halfway between Reno and Las Vegas. The very first drill hole encountered 965 g/t silver equivalents (5.3 g/t Au & 435 g/t Ag) over 29 metres in Victor Vein (AgEq=100:1).
Blackrock is aided by the mining-friendly jurisdiction of Nevada, which was ranked #1 in the world by the Fraser Institute. The infrastructure around Tonopah is excellent.
Plans for the coming season are sped up drilling program with 40,000 meters planned. Pollard is impressed with the size of what his team is finding.
"I think that this could be one of the top 10 primary silver deposits on the planet."
