'No one really recognized the size of the district until we put it together' - Outcrop Silver & Gold
(Kitco News) - Outcrop Silver & Gold drill results are putting the company in a select group, noted CEO Joseph Hebert.
Last week Kitco spoke to Hebert. Outcrop (CVE:OCG) is an exploration company focused on Colombia. Outcrop is currently drilling the Santa Ana historic high-grade silver district. A highlight from last month was an 8.97-meter intercept grading 1,651 grams equivalent silver per tonne at Las Maras.
Santa Ana lies within the Mariquita District, where mining records date to at least 1585. The Mariquita District is the highest-grade primary silver district in Colombia, with historic silver grades reported to be among the highest in Latin America from dozens of mines, according to Outcrop.
Despite the area's history, Hebert said no one has really modeled the entire district's potential.
"[No] one really recognized the size of the district until we put it together. Now we realize that there's over 200 kilometers of veins, and that start to put us in the [realm] of some of the famous Mexico districts, like Guanajuato or Fresnillo," said Hebert. "Another unusual thing is the extreme grade. It's ... really stunning and consistent."
