'The world needs a lot of metals. and we want to be the group that provides them' - Inventa Capital
With over 900 resource companies listed on the Toronto Venture Exchange alone, Inventa Capital uses three key themes to build its portfolio.
Last week Inventa Partner Charles Funk spoke to Kitco at the 2022 Precious Metal Summit Zurich.
Inventa said it incubates entrepreneurs and their ideas. The group provides a platform to take an idea from conception to successful implementation, offering mentorship, corporate services, corporate development, financing, market support and marketing.
The company was founded in 2017 by Craig Parry and Michael Konnert, and since its inception in 2017, Inventa has raised and deployed over $600 million in capital into related companies and created over $2 billion in shareholder value.
"We have three key focuses," said Funk. "Obviously, there are critical medals, copper, lithium, tin and nickel—what's going to drive...the EV revolution. As everyone likes to phrase, they're critical metals."
In the critical metals group are Viszla Silver (NYSE: VZLA), which is focused on advancing its flagship 100%-owned Panuco silver-gold project located in Sinaloa, Mexico. Other companies are TinOne Resources and Surge Copper.
The second theme is environmental social governance.
"ESG is a big part of what we do, not just the communities that we work in but more expansively renewable metals such as hydrogen and carbon credits," said Funk. Companies aligned with this focus include Vida Carbon and NeoGreen Hydrogen.
"Lastly, precious metals such as gold and silver, which are fundamental for the economy and industry," said Funk. Companies under the third focal area include Outback Goldfields and Golden Shield Resources.
"The world needs a lot of metals, and we want to be the group that provides them," said Funk.
