Editor’s Note: Kitco News will be releasing a daily feature from July 14 to July 19 focusing on the world's top five silver producing countries, which will include a daily graphic of the country’s largest producing mines.

(Correction: Lunnoye is located in Magadan Oblast district of Russia. Also correcting Magadan Oblask to Magadan Oblast.)

(Kitco News) - Russia rounds out the top five silver producing countries with Polymetal International plc (LSE:POLY) having a near monopoly of the top producing mines.

According to CPM, Dukat is the world’s second largest primary producing silver mine, while Lunnoye also highlights as a primary silver producing mine and is part of the Dukat hub.

The rest of the top five mines produce silver as a by-product, with gold being the primary metal.

Russia has had an up and down decade in terms of silver mine production with 2013 being the most silver the country has ever produced. They’re expected to produce over 53.3 million ounces of silver in 2014.
