Sept. 13
--More assets linked to
Ron Wilson
are up for auction Saturday in
Travelers Rest
.
Wilson, a former Anderson County Council member, is serving a 17-year prison sentence for mail fraud connected to a
$57.4 million
silver investment scam. Hundreds of items from his home, farm and personal collections have already been sold to benefit the nearly 800 victims of his Ponzi scheme.
At Saturday's auction, a 2008 Ford F250 Super Duty pickup and a pair of Toyota sedans will be up for sale.
The money made at the auction will be turned over to
Greenville
attorney
Beattie Ashmore
, the federally appointed receiver charged with finding and recovering assets and distributing the money to victims.
The auction begins at
4 p.m.
at Poinsett Auction and Realty at
57 Smith Tractor Road
in
Travelers Rest
. Preview of the vehicles begins one hour before the auction.
Last month, federal prosecutors announced new indictments against Wilson, 67, his estranged wife, and his brother.
Those indictments allege that Wilson gave his brother, 60-year-old
Tim Wilson
, a canister with cash or precious metals in
April 2012
, shortly after
Ron Wilson's
business, Atlantic Bullion & Coin, was named in a state complaint letter.
Tim Wilson
hid the container in
May 2012
, according to the indictment.
The indictments allege that
Ron Wilson
gave another container with money and metals to 66-year-old
Cassie Wilson
, his wife, in summer 2012. She did not tell federal investigators about the money during a
February 2014
deposition, according to the indictment.
Ashmore, the appointed receiver, has previously said he expects victims of the Ponzi scheme to get back only pennies on the dollar.
