Gold Struggling Ahead of U.S. Retail Sales Numbers

(Kitco News) - World stock markets were mostly higher overnight, following the record-high closes in all three major U.S. stock indexes on Thursday. That's the first time such has occurred since 1999. The U.S. stock indexes are pointed toward firmer openings when the New York day session begins. There was major economic news coming out of China Friday. July industrial production was reported up 6.0%, year-on- year. Retail sales in July were up 10.2%, year-on-year.
