Gold Firmer as World Markets Await Yellen Speech

(Kitco News) - World stock markets were mostly near steady overnight as the world marketplace is awaiting Federal Reserve Chair Janet Yellen's speech at a Fed symposium at Jackson Hole, Wyoming Friday morning U.S. time. While it's hoped she will shed new light on the timing of any future interest rate increase from the U.S. central bank, many think her speech will not yield much fresh insight. However, past Jackson Hole Fed confabs have produced markets-moving results. U.S. stock indexes are pointed toward narrowly mixed openings when the New York day session begins.
