Turkey - Factors to Watch on March 29

ISTANBUL, March 29 (Reuters) - Here are news, reports and events that may affect Turkish financial markets on Wednesday.

The lira stood at 3.6580 against the U.S. dollar at 0535 GMT, little changed from 3.6564 at Tuesday's close.

The yield on the benchmark 10-year bond was at 10.86 percent in spot trade on Tuesday and was at 10.91 percent in Wednesday-dated trade.

The main BIST 100 share index closed 0.54 percent higher at 90,181.73 points on Tuesday.

GLOBAL MARKETS

Asian shares inched ahead on Wednesday while the dollar and commodities held gains as investors shook off disappointment about U.S. President Donald Trump's failed healthcare bill and focused on an improving outlook for global growth. The good cheer did not extend to the pound which was on the skids as the British government sent a letter to Brussels formally starting the country's exit from the European Union. HALKBANK U.S. prosecutors on Tuesday charged an executive at a Turkish state-owned bank with participating in a multi-year scheme to violate U.S. sanctions against Iran, escalating a case that has added to tensions between the United States and Turkey. In a statement, Halkbank confirmed his detention and said the bank and Turkish state were working on the issue and would share information when they have it. GERMANY

Germany launched a second investigation on Tuesday into suspected spying by Turkey and its interior minister said Berlin would not tolerate foreign espionage on its soil. ERDOGAN

President Tayyip Erdogan will make a speech at the presidential palace campaigning for a 'yes' vote in the April 16 referendum on boosting his powers (0800 GMT).

NATIONAL SECURITY COUNCIL

Erdogan will chair a meeting of the National Security Council at the presidential palace (1100 GMT).

BANKING DATA

The BDDK banking watchdog will release banking sector data for February (1100 GMT)
