How would you invest $100k in 2018?
It’s all about agriculture, bonds and gold next year, said the famed investor.
1/3 in ‘ag’ related investments, “such as fertilizer and the ‘ag’ commodity ETFs.”
1/3 in “bond-related closed end funds such as FAX and PFN.”
1/3 in “Gold related equities such as GLD and/or CEF.”
What will affect gold most in 2017?
“Gold will be most effect by the knowledge that inflation in commodity prices actually began several months ago and that that trend becomes more certain in early 2018,” Gartman said.
What 3 investments would you avoid in 2018? Why?
“I would avoid high tech companies generally; I’d tend on balance to avoid equities generally and I would avoid Tesla above all else,” he said.
If you could describe 2017 in one word, what would it be?
"Surprising."
Any Additional comments?
A very vocal market watcher, Gartman obviously had additional comments for investors, especially stock market bulls.
“Equities are monumentally over-valued and likely to undergo a material bear market and thus are to be avoided in 2018.”
