Philadelphia Fed Manufacturing Index Rises To 26.2 In December

(Kitco News) - The index for current general activity in the Philadelphia Fed’s manufacturing business outlook survey rose to 26.2 in December from 22.7 in November, the regional bank said Thursday.

The index for new orders rose to 29.8 from 21.4, while the reading for shipments climbed to 23.4 from 21.7.

The two inflation readings were mixed. The index for prices paid fell to 25.4 from 39.0, while the index for prices received climbed to 11.3 from 8.6.

The employment readings softened, although they remained in positive territory, which means improvement. The index for number of employees fell to 18.1 from 22.6, while the index for the average work week fell to 10.6 from 13.7.
