Harmony Gold Employee Killed In Hoisting Shaft

(Kitco News) - South African miner, Harmony Gold, said an employee was fatally injured in an engineering-related accident Wednesday night at its Nyala hoisting shaft, situated near the Phakisa operation in the Free State.

An investigation into the accident is underway.

"We are extremely saddened by the fatality at one of our operations. Harmony management express their condolences to the deceased employee's family, friends and colleagues," said Peter Steenkamp, chief executive officer of Harmony.
