Endeavour Silver Reports Fatality At Bolanitos Mine

(Kitco News) - Endeavour Silver Corp. (NYSE: EXK; TSX: EDR) reported Tuesday that an employee died in an accident at the Bolanitos mine in Guanajuato, Mexico Saturday. 

A 22-year-old driller's helper killed when he was helping a senior driller install roof bolts in the Plateros section of the mine when a part of the roof collapsed, the company said. The employee was killed by falling rock. The driller suffered minor injuries.

The company said the mine was closed, authorities were alerted and an investigation was conducted.

“The company emphasizes safety as the top priority in its mining operations,” Endeavour said. “The investigation conclusions and recommendations will be reviewed with key mine-site management and workers at each of Endeavour silver’s operations this week by Endeavour’s vice president of operations in order to better understand what more can be done to improve safety performance.”
