Fatality at Harmony Gold's Kusasalethu Mine
Harmony Gold Mining said on Monday that an employee lost his life on Friday evening, following a scraper winch-related incident at its Kusasalethu mine, near Carletonville.
An investigation is underway. Work in area has been stopped.
Kusasalethu is Harmony’s deepest mine. The South African gold mine has just under 5,000 employees. Mining is conducted to a depth of 3,388m (2.1 miles).
