(Kitco News) - A Gold Fields employee died after falling down a reef ore-pass at the company's South Deep Mine.

Abel Magajane leaves behind a wife and three children.

The mine has stood down all activities yesterday and offered counselling to those in need of support.

Gold Fields said the accident is the first in a year.
