The world's top 10 largest silver mining companies in 2020 - report
(Kitco News) - Kitco ranked the top 10 silver producing companies worldwide based on reported silver output in 2020.
Fresnillo is the world’s top silver producer and Mexico’s largest gold producer. Fresnillo’s full year 2020 attributable silver production of 53.1 Moz (including Silverstream) was down 3% compared to 2019 due to the expected lower ore grade at Saucito, mitigated by a higher ore grade at San Julián DOB and development ore from Juanicipio being processed for the first time.
With 43.4 Moz of payable silver produced in 2020, KGHM Polska Miedz S.A. is second largest silver producer worldwide. Production of payable silver was 5% lower compared to 2019 due to the lower content of silver in charge material processed by KGHM Polska Miedz.
Glencore is third with 32.8 Moz of silver produced in 2020.
Newmont is fourth largest silver producing company. The company had consolidated co-product silver production of 27.8 Moz in 2020, which is 75% more compared to 15.9 Moz produced in 2019. For 2020 and 2019, 5% and 3%, respectively, of Newmont sales were attributable to silver. All of the company’s 2020 silver production came from North America.
