(Kitco News) - AngloGold Ashanti said Monday that it recovered the body of a missing miner at its Obusai Mine.
The company reported that the miner went missing after a geotechnical event at the mine on May 18.
Obuasi is an underground mine in the Ashanti region of Ghana. It was placed on care and maintenance from 2016.
Following the decision to redevelop the mine in 2018, the redevelopment project began early in 2019. First gold was poured in December 2019, said the company on its website.
