B2Gold pushes out Gramalote feasibility study to Q2 of 2022

B2Gold (TSE:BTO) said in its second quarter report that it will need more time to complete its Gramalote feasibility study.

The 50% joint venture project B2Gold is undertaking with Anglo Gold Ashanti is forecast to have a life-of-mine gold production of 2.97 million ounces and average annual gold production of 347,000 ounces per year for the first five full years of production.

"Completion of the feasibility study has been pushed out from the first quarter to the second quarter of 2022 as a result of an increase in planned drilling and the impact of ongoing COVID-19 restrictions," wrote the company in its Q2.

"The Gramalote Project team is advancing work on different project optimization opportunities to potentially reduce capital and operating costs, as well as improve operability and sustainability of the Project. Those activities include road optimization and layout, pit design and phasing, blast design optimization, river deviation changes, improved infrastructure layout, and further optimization of plant design."
