American Pacific maintains focus on boron, but wants more value from lithium by-product

Kitco News

American Pacific Borates (ASX:ABR) said today it is looking for partner options to get more value from its by-product lithium production at Fort Cady boron facility in Southern California.

The company said it wants to improve the lithium economics by exploring lithium extraction technologies to make a product that can be used in batteries. The current Fort Cady JORC shows a mineral resource estimate of 214,000 tonnes of lithium cabronate equivalent.

The company maintained that its primary focus remains on boron.

Lithium has been on a tear this year. Chris Berry, president of House Mountain Partners, told Kitco anchor David Lin that demand for or lithium is expected to grow at a compound annual rate of 20% from now until 2030.
