(Kitco News) - A geologist who went missing during the summer is getting more attention due to the case of Gabby Petito.

After graduating college in 2019, Daniel Robinson moved to Phoenix to work as a field geologist. On June 23 Daniel Robinson disappeared. His Jeep Renegade was discovered by a rancher in a remote part of the desert.

On the family's Go Fund Me page, Daniel Robinson is described as having an "...innate passion for adventure and is known to travel inopportune moments."

"The current investigation by law enforcement is not progressing and we are raising money to fund other resources and present initiatives to locate Daniel," writes the family.

Gabby Petito, who is a vlogger, was travelling across the U.S. with her fiance. She was declared missing earlier this month. Her disappearance gained widespread media attention. Her remains were found on Sunday.
