Troilus Gold suspends operations in Quebec due to worsening forest fire conditions

(Kitco News) - Troilus Gold (TSX: TLG) announced on Monday that operations at its Troilus site in Quebec have been suspended and staff have been withdrawn as a safety precaution due to worsening forest fire conditions.
In a statement, the company said that that in response to worsening forest fire conditions in the Eeyou-Istchee James Bay region of northern Quebec over the weekend, the Quebec Ministry of Natural Resources & Forests announced prohibitions regarding forest access on Crown lands and closed roads for reasons of public safety.
The Route du Nord, which provides the only road access to the Troilus site, is currently closed, it added.
CEO and Director Justin Reid commented, “We are carefully monitoring the situation and will continue to comply with local directives to ensure the health and safety of our staff and local communities. All personnel are safe, and the Troilus site is secure. The temporary closure is not anticipated to have a material impact on our business. We will provide further updates as the situation continues to evolve.”
Troilus Gold is a Canadian-based junior mining company focused on the systematic advancement and de-risking of the former gold and copper Troilus mine towards production. From 1996 to 2010, the Troilus Mine produced +2 million ounces of gold and nearly 70,000 tonnes of copper.
The company indicated it is currently advancing engineering studies following the completion of a robust PEA in 2020, which demonstrated the potential for the Troilus project to become a top-ranked gold and copper producing asset in Canada.
