As Kitco News’ 5-year celebrations draw to a close, Brent Cook, editor of the Exploration Insights and famed geologist, pops in and compares the gold mining industry today to the one we saw five years ago. “We’re probably in the same shape, just no one knew how bad it was five years ago,” Cook says. “New deposits were coming online, that was an advantage and there was a lot more investor interest in the gold sector.” He adds that today’s mining industry is as ugly as he’s seen it.
