Good News Silver Fix Is Ending – Andrew Caminschi
The London Silver Fix is soon coming to an end and University of Western Australia’s Andrew Caminschi is on Kitco News to tell us why that is a good thing. Caminschi is responsible for releasing a study that outlines potential collusion in silver at the time the benchmark is set. He first entered the spotlight last year when he released a study in the Journal of Futures Markets discussing the same issue with the London Gold Fix. “It is statistically undeniable,” he says. “There is this trade advantage that is granted to the fix participants.” Caminschi also comments on the recent LBMA announcement granting CME/Thomson Reuters the right to administer a new type of Silver Fix. “I think in the modern market place…moving to something that is transparent will certainly reduce the likelihood of collusion [and] the likelihood of manipulation.” Tune in now to see why he is happy the fix is gone and whether or not he thinks silver prices will be affected on August 15 when the fix is expected to be eradicated.
