Bitcoin faces bull trap as market poised for short squeeze teaser image

Bitcoin Outlook and Potential Bull Trap

In the final days of 2025, Bitcoin has confirmed a weekly TBO Open Short, completing the “TBO Bear Formula,” while also forming a second TBT Bullish Divergence Cluster on the daily chart. Historical parallels from early 2022 and 2018 indicate that BTC often rallies 11–15% toward the weekly TBO Fast line—currently near $98,856—or the top of the weekly Cloud around $101,000, before reversing sharply lower. Traders should view any move toward these levels as a potential bull trap rather than a sustainable bottom.

Liquidation Dynamics and Short-Squeeze Scenario

Coinglass data shows a 30-day “max pain” price at $91,116.24, with a significant sell wall at $91,043. A short-squeeze event—driven by $2.55 billion of at-risk short positions—could trigger rapid liquidations, creating a swift market buy wave that propels BTC toward the weekly TBO Fast line. This cascade effect may lift all crypto assets in its wake, but it is crucial to treat the rally as an exit or short-entry opportunity, not a long-term entry signal.

Dominance Shifts and Macro Market Structure

Ethereum remains in bearish territory below its daily TBO Cloud, and stablecoin dominance appears set to decline toward the daily Slow line near 7.2%. Bitcoin dominance is testing support at approximately 59.16%. Should BTC weakness persist, market share is likely to flow into the “Others” category (OTHERS.D), currently at 6.82%, with an extreme upside target of 8.33% resistance. Both TOTALES.D and the total crypto market cap charts show building strength but lack definitive TBO Close Short confirmations for a bullish reversal.

Precious Metals Rally in TradFi Markets

Precious metals outperformed many altcoins this week. After a 4% pullback, gold found support precisely at its daily TBO Fast line and set up a Springboard Bounce with a resistance target at $4,548.35. Silver is up 8%, platinum 6.5%, and copper nearly 4% on the day. Watch daily RSI for lower local highs across these charts to anticipate potential deeper pullbacks or resets ahead of the next leg higher.

Altcoin Technical Highlights and Opportunities

Several altcoins are poised for significant moves if BTC clears $91,000. HYPE confirmed a second TBT Bullish Divergence, while MNT retraced to its daily TBO Fast line with RSI below 25, suggesting a bounce. TON, after printing a TBO Close Short, is consolidating bullishly inside its daily Cloud. CRO has produced three 4-hour Close Shorts, indicating upward potential. Other noteworthy setups include ZEC, NEAR, 2Z, XPL, XTZ, and BDX, each exhibiting divergence patterns or consolidation structures that could accelerate once Bitcoin triggers the anticipated short squeeze.
