Feb 16 (Reuters) - Federal Reserve Bank of Cleveland President Loretta Mester said Thursday that from her perspective the U.S. central bank could become more aggressive with rate rises in the future if inflation surprises to the upside.

When it comes to Fed rate rises, “it’s not always going to be 25 [basis point]” rate hikes, Mester said. “When the economy calls for it, we can move faster” and that may have be the case if inflation comes in stronger than expected in future months.
