When it comes to Fed rate rises, “it’s not always going to
be 25 [basis point]” rate hikes, Mester said. “When the economy
calls for it, we can move faster” and that may have be the case
if inflation comes in stronger than expected in future months.

President Loretta Mester said Thursday that from her perspective
the U.S. central bank could become more aggressive with rate
rises in the future if inflation surprises to the upside.
