BERLIN, March 15 (Reuters) - Germany's financial supervisory authority (BaFin) sees no direct risk of contagion for the German financial system from what it called the "the problems of strongly technology-oriented American banks", a BaFin spokesperson said on Wednesday. "However, we continue to keep an eye on market developments and take them into account as part of our ongoing supervision," the spokesperson said in a statement.

"Our main focus is currently on some smaller banks with little surplus capital and increased interest rate risks - we are closely monitoring these institutions," the spokesperson added. "So far, it appears that the German banking system is robust and could digest the impact of higher interest rates."
