ECONOMY The Italian government's plan to reduce current income tax bands from four to three within two years got a hostile response from the trade unions on Tuesday, who argued it would mainly benefit the wealthiest. Bank of Italy releases January data on public finances, state borrowing and debt.
(*) TELECOM INDUSTRY Italian telecoms operator Wind Tre is planning to spin-off its network assets into a separate company as it resumed talks with Swedish private equity firm EQT over a potential sale, two sources familiar with the matter said.
BANKS Deposits with Italian banks shrank by 39.7 billion euros ($42.6 billion) in February as the country's businesses continued to reduce the excess funds they had precautionary stashed with lenders up to mid-2022, national banking lobby ABI said.

COMPANIES TELECOM ITALIA The phone group is expected on Wednesday to ask Italian state lender CDP and Australian fund Macquarie to improve their bid for its fixed network assets, four sources said on Tuesday.
INTESA SANPAOLO Retail deposits at the Italian bank are stable while rising interest rates are stoking competition to retain deposits of businesses and very wealthy individuals, the head of group treasury and finance at the Italian bank said on Tuesday. (*) The bank is not offering higher remuneration on its retail deposits and has only moved to pass on higher interest rates to its key corporate customers, its finance chief told investors on Tuesday according to a person who attended the meeting.
(*) TECHNOPROBE The Italian microelectronics company said on Wednesday it has regained "full availability" of the funds it held at failed U.S. lender Silicon Valley Bank (SVB).
(*) BANCA MONTE DEI PASCHI DI SIENA The board of the Italian lender said in a document filed ahead of the April 20 shareholders' meeting that current remuneration packages for board members are inadequate.
(*) LEONARDO The Italian defence group, Mitsubishi Electric, Leonardo UK and Elettronica have agreed to forge a closer business relationship and assess appropriate commercial and international operating models, readying the partners for the next stage of the Global Combat Air Programme, a joint statement said. JUVENTUS UEFA has requested additional information to Italian prosecutors on their inquiry over the Serie A club finances based on recent investigations, the European soccer governing body said on Tuesday, adding it had no further comments at this stage.
BANCA POPOLARE DI SONDRIO Credit ratings agency Scope said on Tuesday it had upgraded the Italian bank to "BBB" FROM "BBB-". Scope changed the outlook to "stable" from "positive".
(*) SANLORENZO The Italian yacht maker said on Tuesday that net revenues from sales of new yachts rose 26.4% year-on-year to 740.7 million euros in 2022, while adjusted core earnings were up 36.3% from 2021. In its 2023-2025 business plan, the company said it was targeting an high single-digit Compound Annual Growth Rate as well as investments of between 143-155 million euros over the three-year period.
ERG (*) The Italian renewable energy group posted adjusted core earnings of 537 million euros for 2022 and an adjusted net profit from continuing operations of 216 million euros.
