** Shares of Manchester United Plc fell 13% on
Monday after a report said the Glazer family was confident of
securing an investment that would allow them to retain ownership
of the British soccer club.
** Glencore executives have met or spoken with
some 120 Teck Resources shareholders during a short
visit to Toronto in an effort to win support for the company's
takeover bid rather than an internal overhaul, a source familiar
with the situation said.
** French cooperative bank Credit Mutuel Arkea is looking to
sell a stake in its subsidiary Monext, following a string of
European lenders that have sought external partners for their
payments businesses, three people familiar with the matter told
Reuters.
** HSBC's biggest shareholder Ping An is likely to
vote in favour of splitting the bank up at its annual investor
meeting on May 5, a source familiar with the Chinese insurer's
thinking said.
** Activist investor Trillium Capital said stock-photo
company Getty Images Holdings Inc should expand and
create partnerships with technology firms and publishers to grow
its revenue.
** Payments provider Network International said on
Monday it has received a takeover proposal from a consortium of
private equity firms CVC Capital and Francisco Partners, valuing
it at about 2.1 billion pounds ($2.56 billion).
** John Wood Group said on Monday it has decided to
engage with Apollo Management for a firm offer from the private
equity firm for a final buyout price of 240 pence per share,
which values the group at about 1.66 billion pounds ($2.06
billion).
** Belgium's Aliaxis on Monday made a 1.82
billion euro ($2.0 billion) unsolicited offer to buy Finland's
Uponor , seeking to form a global water management
group.
** French investment company Wendel said on Monday
it was in exclusive talks to buy a majority stake in engineering
consulting group Scalian for an enterprise value of 965 million
euros ($1.06 billion).
** Japan's Sega Sammy Holdings Inc said on Monday
it planned to acquire Finland's Rovio Entertainment Oyj for 706 million euros ($776 million) to bolster its
mobile gaming business, sending Rovio shares soaring.
** Shares in online retail platform THG surged more
than 40% after it said it had received a "highly preliminary"
buyout proposal from Apollo Global Management , without
disclosing terms of the plan.
** Indian conglomerate Wadia Group is in talks with
strategic partners to either sell a majority stake in
loss-making budget airline Go First or completely exit it, the
Economics Times reported on Monday, citing sources close to the
development.
** Nissan is developing growth plans in areas such as
software and electric vehicles independent of Renault SA as the automakers work to finalise terms of a sharply
limited alliance, said seven people with knowledge of the
matter.
** Merck & Co said on Sunday it would buy Prometheus
Biosciences Inc for about $10.8 billion, picking up a
promising experimental treatment for ulcerative colitis and
Crohn's disease and building up its presence in immunology.
** Teck Resources Ltd has been approached by Vale
SA , Anglo American Plc and Freeport-McMoRan
Inc , among others, to explore deals for its base metals
business if the Canadian copper miner goes ahead with a planned
split, sources close to the matter told Reuters on Sunday.
** Bidders for Telecom Italia's (TIM) landline grid are
preparing to raise their offers of around 20 billion euros ($22
billion) by between 1 and 2 billion euros ahead of a Tuesday
