Yukon Metals (CSE: YMC; OTCQB: YMMCF) President and CEO Rory Quinn sat down with Kitco Mining’s Paul Harris to outline the company’s copper, gold, and silver exploration strategy in Canada’s Yukon, and its three flagship projects.
At Star River, high-grade gold and silver have been identified at surface, with samples returning 101 g/t gold and 11,000 g/t silver. The project also benefits from all-weather road access, reducing reliance on helicopters for logistics.
At Birch, a 1.4-kilometer gold-in-soil anomaly of up to 0.99 g/t Au and 0.24% Cu is supported by skarn encountered in every drill hole across 750 meters of strike. Quinn believes this may represent the surface expression of a larger porphyry system. “We feel really comfortable and really confident in our geologic model,” he said.
Six kilometers from the Alaska Highway, AZ reported surface sampling returns up to 3.5% copper. A new target has delivered additional results above 1% copper and 5 g/t gold, supported by visible malachite and chalcopyrite at surface.
Yukon Metals has raised C$26 million since 2024, with backing from the Berdahl family portfolio, First Majestic Silver’s Keith Neumeyer, and institutional investors including Haywood and Canaccord principals. Quinn said the company expects to exit the current season with C$9–10 million in the treasury. “Assays from AZ, Star River, and Birch will be coming through year-end into January,” he said, with permitting also underway to advance from Class 1 to Class 3, allowing larger exploration campaigns.
Since speaking with Kitco Mining, Yukon Metals has released first drill results from the AZ project, including 14.4 meters at 0.44% copper with 1.5 meters at 0.37 grams per tonne gold. The company noted porphyry-style alteration at depth, supporting the geological model.
