A source said that sanctions against Moscow over Ukraine complicate payments, including for usage of state-owned Russian Railways, which is under Western sanctions. Zhakimunai is a subsidiary of UK-based Nostrum Oil & Gas and the UK included Russian Railways in its sanctions list last March. According to industry sources, Zhakimunai was also unable to export more than 13,000 tonnes of gas condensate and around 9,000 tonnes of oil by rail to Finland last month. A source said the company diverted gas condensate to the Caspian port of Aktau for exports via Baku. In 2022, Zhakimunai supplied some 108,000 tonnes of condensate to Lukoil's terminal in Kaliningrad, according to the source. (Reporting by Reuters; editing by Jason Neely)
Feb 2 (Reuters) - Kazakhstan firm Zhakimunai has
suspended exports of gas condensate by rail via the terminal at
Russian Baltic Sea exclave of Kaliningrad due to sanctions, two
industry sources told Reuters on Thursday.
Kazakhstan is the world's largest landlocked country and
uses Russia as a transit route for its exports.
