THE GLOBE AND MAIL - Google and YouTube parent Alphabet Inc began laying off employees in Canada on Monday, more than two weeks after the California-based internet giant said it would slash 12,000 jobs worldwide in a cost-cutting measure amid an economic downturn.
- Canada Prime Minister Justin Trudeau says Canada "stands ready to provide assistance" in the aftermath of a 7.8-magnitude earthquake that rocked Turkey and Syria, but no formal relief efforts were announced by the government Monday.
