POLITICS Italy intends to vote against European plans to outlaw the sale of new petrol and diesel cars in 12 years, Energy Minister Gilberto Pichetto Fratin said on Tuesday. Italy expects a small impact on its 2023 deficit/GDP ratio from the European Union's statistics agency Eurostat ruling on treatment of tax credits, a Treasury official said on Tuesday, adding that the GDP growth this year is seen at almost 1%, up from the 0.6% target set in November.
ECONOMY Moody's rating agency said on Tuesday it had revised up its Italian GDP growth forecast for 2023 to 0.3% from the previously estimated -1.4%, while cutting its forecast for next year to 0.6% from 1.5%.
