BERLIN, March 1 (Reuters) - German utility Uniper said the authorities have carried out the final
acceptance audit at the newly built Wilhelmshaven liquefied
natural gas (LNG) terminal with no objections, allowing
operations to begin on Wednesday.
The Wilhelmshaven LNG port was the first to be launched by
Germany since the gas crisis triggered by Russia's invasion of
Ukraine and the resulting Western sanctions against Moscow. It
has been operating on a trial basis since Dec. 21, 2022.
Around 6% of Germany's gas demand can be met via the
terminal, Uniper said in a statement.
