Turkey - Factors to Watch on March 24

ISTANBUL, March 24 (Reuters) - Here are news, reports and events that may affect Turkish financial markets on Friday. The lira traded at 19.0505 against the dollar at 0356 GMT on Friday, little changed from its close of 19.0480 on Thursday. The main BIST 100 share index closed 1.22% higher at 5,061.99 points on Thursday.


GLOBAL MARKETS Asian shares were lower on Friday as lingering banking stability concerns gripped Wall Street, while bonds bet the recent slew of rate hikes by central banks will be among the last of the cycle, allowing for policy relief later in the year.


ERDOGAN PROGRAMME President Tayyip Erdogan will make a speech at a foundation-laying ceremony for new hospitals and housing in the earthquake-hit city of Iskenderun in southern Turkey (1300 GMT).


FINLAND NATO BID The Turkish parliament's foreign affairs commission approved a bill ratifying Finland's bid to join NATO, state broadcaster TRT Haber reported on Thursday, effectively taking Helsinki another step toward membership of the trans-Atlantic pact.


FOREIGN ARRIVALS The tourism ministry will announce foreign arrivals data for February (0800 GMT).


FINANCE MINISTER Finance Minister Nureddin Nebati will attend a Ramadan fast-breaking event in the earthquake-hit city of Sanliurfa.
