Turkey - Factors to Watch on April 19

ANKARA, April 19 (Reuters) - Here are news, reports and events that may affect Turkish financial markets on Wednesday. The lira stood at 19.4000 against the dollar at 0418 GMT, weakening from its close of 19.3900 on Tuesday. The main BIST 100 share index closed 0.80% lower at 5,018.70 points on Tuesday.


GLOBAL MARKETS Stocks eased on Wednesday, while the dollar was under a little pressure, as traders shifted focus from U.S. banking stress to expectations for an imminent peak in the Federal Reserve's interest rate cycle.


ERDOGAN Turkish President Tayyip Erdogan will hold an election rally in the western province of Denizli (1400 GMT).


CONSUMER CONFIDENCE The Turkish Statistical Institute will release consumer confidence data for April (0700 GMT).


CENBANK SURVEY Turkey's central bank will release its monthly survey on market participants' expectations for the economy (0700 GMT).


INTEREST RATES Interest rates in Turkey are rising amid expectations that government policies will become more orthodox no matter who wins May 14 elections, and after a regulatory change to make holding Turkish lira more attractive to counter FX demand, bankers said.
