Turkey - Factors to Watch on May 10

ISTANBUL, May 10 (Reuters) - Here are news, reports and events that may affect Turkish financial markets on Wednesday. The lira traded at 19.5190 against the dollar at 0407 GMT on Wednesday, unchanged from its close on Tuesday. The main BIST 100 share index closed 0.56% lower at 4,536.20 points on Tuesday.


GLOBAL MARKETS Stocks were struggling to advance in Asia and the dollar was firm on Wednesday ahead of U.S. consumer price data that could damage hopes for interest rate cuts later this year if inflation fails to show much of a decline.


ERDOGAN President Tayyip Erdogan will attend the anniversary of the opening of the Council of State (0900 GMT). He will later hold election rallies in the southeastern provinces of Batman (1130 GMT) and Mardin (1430 GMT).


TURKISH, SYRIAN FOREIGN MINISTERS Turkish, Syrian, Iranian and Russian foreign ministers will meet in Moscow as Ankara and Damascus work to mend fraught ties.


GRAIN DEAL Russian, Ukrainian, Turkish and United Nations officials will meet in Istanbul to discuss the Black Sea grains deal on Wednesday and Thursday.


ECONOMIC DATA The Turkish Statistical Institute will release unemployment and industrial production data for March (0700 GMT).


ELECTION As the sun beat down on a Turkish tent camp for earthquake survivors, Bahattin Kar emerged from his makeshift shelter to complain about the lack of electricity and water, the unfair distribution of aid and the surging cost of living.
