LONDON, Feb 21 (Reuters) - Northwest European diesel barge profit margins rose on Tuesday to $26.30 a barrel after crude oil prices declined and as imports into the region remained high.

* Diesel imports into Europe from Asia, the Middle East, the United States and Russia, before the EU ban on Russian imports kicked in on Feb. 5, are set to reach 6.5 million tonnes in February, based on current shipping data, according to Refinitiv data. That compared with a total of 7.15 million tonnes in January.
* Imports from Asia and the Middle East in February are on course to hit a record of 4.22 million tonnes, Refinitiv said.
* "Europe is coping extremely well as we enter the third week into the ban on Russian diesel imports, which so far appears to have a greater impact on flows from Russia while deliveries into Europe are continuing unabated," Refinitiv analysts said in a note.
* Germany's Schwedt refinery, whose majority owner Rosneft Deutschland has been put under trusteeship by the government, will undergo major maintenance this spring that will lower utilisation to less than half.
* Utilisation at the refinery will be below 50% in April and May, while reaching a target of 75% would take two to two-and-a-half years, said Michael Kellner, state secretary in the Economy Ministry.
* Gasoil stocks held in independent storage in the Amsterdam-Rotterdam-Antwerp (ARA) refining and storage area hit a new two-year high in the week to Thursday, data from Dutch consultancy Insights Global showed.
* Gasoil stocks, which include diesel and heating oil, are at their highest since March 2021 on the back of ample imports, including from East Asia and India, said Insights Global's Lars van Wageningen.
* Diesel supplies and imports into Europe remained high even after the EU ban on Russian fuel imports took effect.
* About 5.5 million tonnes of diesel is already scheduled to arrive in Europe this month, compared with 7.73 million tonnes in January, Refinitiv analysis shows.

* The February imports are still 12% higher than a year earlier, according to Refinitiv.
* Russian diesel exports took a massive hit in the week to Feb. 12, tumbling to about 550,000 tonnes compared with the 1.23 million tonnes that loaded in the week to Feb. 5, Refinitiv data shows.
