POLITICS A draft EU bill seeking to improve the energy efficiency of buildings which was approved by the European Parliament this week is unreasonable and ideological, Italian Prime Minister Giorgia Meloni said on Wednesday. Its targets are "unattainable for Italy," Meloni told the Italian parliament. Answering lawmakers' questions Meloni also said Italy was not ready to ratify an EU reform of the bloc's bailout fund (ESM) and called for it to be given a different function.

COMPANIES (*) TOD'S The Italian fashion group's owner Diego Della Valle said in an interview with daily Il Sole 24 Ore that he expected rising revenues and "excellent profits," when asked about the company's future. CNH The Italian-American maker of farm machinery and construction equipment said on Wednesday it had taken a controlling stake in Bennamann, a UK-based developer of solutions to capture, repurpose and store methane emissions for energy use. The head of CNH's investment arm also told Reuters in an interview that the company sees major M&A deals ahead as it pursues innovation.
BRUNELLO CUCINELLI The Italian luxury group on Wednesday raised its 2023 sales growth guidance to 15%, up from its previous estimate of 12%, on the back of a strong start to the year and significant orders for coming seasons.
