POLITICS (*) A powerful earthquake struck Italy's southern region of Molise late on Tuesday night. Italy said on Tuesday it had approved a new set of measures worth almost 5 billion euros to cut costly energy bills paid by families and firms. (*) Italy's government on Tuesday approved a bill banning the use of laboratory-produced food and animal feed as it aims to safeguard the country's agri-food heritage, its agriculture minister told a news conference after a Cabinet meeting.


ECONOMY ISTAT releases February non-EU foreign trade data (0900 GMT).


DEBT Treasury sells 5.0 billion euros 6-month BOT bills and 2.0 billion euros 12-month BOT bills. Subscriptions close at 0900 GMT.


COMPANIES UNICREDIT (*) The lender told shareholders in written answers ahead of the next general meeting that the ECB had inquired into the group's presence in Russia within the context of its regular supervisory activity. UniCredit added that its strategy in Russia envisioned a gradual reduction of exposure at "the right conditions". (*) Asked about potential M&A deals in Italy, the bank told shareholders it was constantly analysing and evaluating its asset portfolio to identify streamlining or growth opportunities. The Italian lender said on Tuesday it had received supervisory approval to buy back its own shares for up to 3.34 billion euros, giving a boost to the stock price at a time of deep uncertainty for the banking sector.


INTERCOS (*) Private equity fund L Catterton and the Ontario Teachers' Pension Plan (OTPP) said late on Tuesday they had completed the sale of an around 5.7% stake in the Italian cosmetics manufacturer at a price of 13.25 euros per share.

(*) ITA AIRWAYS - M&A The Italian state-owned carrier on Tuesday posted a 2022 loss of around 486 million euros due to lingering effects of the pandemic and rising fuel costs, despite strong revenues of 1.58 billion euros.
