The cash premium for 0.5% very low sulphur fuel oil closed at $4.22 a tonne, while front-month margins dipped to a premium of $8.42 a barrel. Meanwhile, high sulphur fuel oil's cash premium eased to $6.72 a tonne, while front-month margins climbed to a discount of $9.62 a barrel.
Fuel oil inventories at Fujairah, which mostly comprised high sulphur barrels, fell 11% to 9.66 million barrels (1.52 million tonnes) in the week ended April 24, according to Fujairah Oil Industry Zone data published by S&P Global Commodity Insights.
In tenders, Saudi Aramco offered three 550,000-barrel cargoes of straight run fuel oil for May loading.
