MUMBAI, Feb 24 (Reuters) -
STOCKS:
The benchmark BSE Sensex fell 252.62 points, or 0.42%,
to 59,353.18, while the broader NSE index lost 51.75
points, or 0.30%, to 17,459.5, a slide in financial and metal
stocks and fears of aggressive interest rate hikes by global
central banks weighed on sentiment. RUPEE:
The Indian rupee weakened 0.05% versus the U.S. dollar,
and quoted at 82.78 per dollar, down tracking decline on Asian
peers on concerns over U.S. interest rate outlook. GOVERNMENT BONDS:
Benchmark 10-year bond was quoted at 99.06
rupees, with yield up 1 bps at 7.3994%; vs previous close of
7.3905%, as traders await debt auction result. OVERNIGHT INDEXED SWAPS:
The one-year overnight indexed swap rate was
unchanged at 6.97%, while the benchmark five-year swap rate rose 2 bps to 6.62%.
CALL MONEY/REPOS:
India's overnight call money rate was down 25 bps at
6.25% against 6.50% in the previous session. The overnight TREPS
rate was at 6.64%, compared with the previous
day's weighted average of 6.3510%.
