STOCKS:
The benchmark BSE Sensex rose 317.81 points, or 0.51%,
to 62,345.71, while the broader NSE index gained 84.05
points, or 0.46%, to 18,398.85, helped mainly by strong earnings
from Tata Motors RUPEE:
The Indian rupee weakened 0.16% versus the U.S. dollar,
and quoted at 82.28 per dollar on narrowing interest rate
differentials between the U.S. and India. GOVERNMENT BONDS:
Benchmark 10-year bond was quoted at 101.75
rupees, with yield up 1 bps at 7.0062%; vs previous close of
6.9938% as a rise in U.S yields outweighed the positive impact
from lower-than-expected retail inflation data for April. OVERNIGHT INDEXED SWAPS:
The one-year overnight indexed swap rate was down
1 bps at 6.56%, while the benchmark five-year swap rate stayed fixed to 6.00%.
CALL MONEY/REPOS:
India's overnight call money rate was down 5 bps at
6.70% against 6.75% in the previous session. The overnight TREPS
rate was at 6.85%, compared with the previous
day's weighted average of 6.7569%.
