August 20(Reuters) - Canada's commodity-heavy stock ​index opened ‌lower on Thursday, ​as ​losses in mining stocks offset energy ⁠gains, ​while investors ​weighed whether U.S. Treasury support ​would ​be enough to ‌calm ⁠global bond-market concerns.

The S&P/TSX Composite ​Index (.GSPTSE), opens new tab ​was ⁠down 0.3% ​at 9:30 ​a.m. ⁠ET.
