August 20(Reuters) - Canada's commodity-heavy stock index opened lower on Thursday, as losses in mining stocks offset energy gains, while investors weighed whether U.S. Treasury support would be enough to calm global bond-market concerns.
The S&P/TSX Composite Index (.GSPTSE), opens new tab was down 0.3% at 9:30 a.m. ET.
