I-80 Gold fast-tracks autoclave to capture $1,000/oz margin

I-80 Gold (TSX: IAU; NYSE: IAUX) is executing a turnaround strategy to become a major gold producer in Nevada, targeting 200,000 ounces of annual production by 2028. Speaking with Kitco Mining at the Precious Metals Summit Beaver Creek, CFO Ryan Snow said phase one includes bringing Granite Creek and Archimedes underground into production and refurbishing the company’s autoclave to achieve first gold by late 2027. “At these metals prices today, we’re losing approximately a thousand to $1,300 in margin by processing through that toll milling agreement,” Snow said, adding, “That really precipitated the need to accelerate the autoclave project.” To fund its growth, I-80 Gold is pursuing an $800 million recapitalization plan. This includes $350–400 million in new debt under negotiation, proceeds from a non-core asset sale, and a potential royalty on the Mineral Point project. Upcoming catalysts include the autoclave study in Q4 2025, a Granite Creek feasibility in Q1 2026, and results from a 45,000-meter program at Cove. “2026 is a catalyst-rich year for us,” Snow emphasized.
