Al-Joundi: “We see potential to grow to over 4M oz a year”
Agnico Eagle Mines (TSX / NYSE: AEM) is posting record results as gold pushes toward new highs. In an interview with Kitco Mining at Mining Forum Americas 2025, President and CEO Ammar Al-Joundi highlighted Q2 production of 866,000 ounces, net earnings of US$1.5 billion, and margins of about 60% on all-in sustaining costs of US$1,300 per ounce. “Of the roughly $1,500 increase in gold price, virtually all of that has gone to our shareholders, and we are very proud of that,” he said. Shares have climbed to roughly US$150, up 80% year over year, while debt has been cut to US$550 million alongside dividends and buybacks. Al-Joundi pointed to the company’s pipeline as “the best pipeline we’ve ever had,” with projects such as Detour, Meliadine, Upper Beaver, Hope Bay, and San Nicolás expected to add 1.3 to 1.5 million ounces annually. “We see the potential to grow to over 4 million ounces a year of production,” he said, calling this “an exceptionally strong time in Agnico history and an exceptionally strong gold market.”
