Silver’s $50 breakout is just the beginning, says Peter Krauth

Silver Stock Investor Editor and author of The Great Silver Bull, Peter Krauth, says silver’s five-year supply deficit and surging industrial demand are setting the stage for higher prices. Speaking with Kitco Mining at Xplor 2025 in Montreal, Krauth explained that the metal’s supply is “price inelastic,” meaning higher prices won’t lead to increased production as roughly 75% of silver comes as a byproduct from other mines. He added that the Federal Reserve’s decision to cut rates despite persistent inflation has “sacrificed the dollar” and created “a nirvana for precious metals.” Industrial uses such as solar, batteries, and AI-driven power demand now account for nearly two-thirds of global silver consumption, and Krauth sees these forces sustaining a $50 floor and potentially driving prices toward $70–$95 an ounce.
