Discovery Silver’s porcupine deal fuels major growth shift for 2026

Discovery Silver (TSX: DSV; OTCQX: DSVSF) President and CEO Tony Makuch says the Porcupine acquisition from Newmont has reshaped the company and “unlocks a lot of potential,” calling the asset “a special white swan.” Speaking with Kitco Mining at the NBF CEO Mining Conference in London, he said Porcupine offers strong operations, meaningful cost-reduction opportunities, and district-scale exploration upside across more than 15 million ounces of resources. With over $600 million in liquidity and free cash flow generation in its first two quarters of ownership, Makuch said Discovery is positioned to reinvest aggressively in growth. Looking ahead to 2026, Makuch highlighted continued improvements at existing mines, advancement of the Dome and TVZ projects, and engineering tied to a mill expansion that could lift capacity from 4.5 million tonnes per year toward 9 million tonnes. He also said Discovery has completed all technical and legal reviews for its Cordero project in Mexico and is awaiting final permit approval, adding that the team is preparing to move quickly once the green light is received.
