Tony Makuch named Kitco Mining CEO of the Year as Discovery accelerates Porcupine reinvestment
Discovery Silver (TSX: DSV; OTCQX: DSVSF) CEO Tony Makuch was named Kitco Mining’s CEO of the Year after the company’s first full year operating the Porcupine complex in Ontario delivered 180,000 ounces of gold production, $107 million in net profit, and $172 million in free cash flow. Speaking with Kitco Mining at the 35th BMO Global Metals, Mining & Critical Minerals Conference in Florida, Makuch said the company is prioritizing reinvestment to extend mine life, grow resources, and position Porcupine for higher output over time. Makuch said Discovery plans to spend more than $65 million on exploration this year as it advances work across Borden, Hoyle Pond, and Pamour, while targeting a multi-year cost reduction effort. He said the company aims to bring all-in sustaining costs down to between $1,250 and $1,500 per ounce, while maintaining a debt-free balance sheet and progressing permitting at its Cordero project in Mexico. “Shareholder return over the next few years is going to be an investment of capital into the business to improve the value of the equity,” he said.
